More than 80 people attended a graduation party for Luis West, who has lived in PCHAS’ Group Home in San Antonio for the past three years. Luis graduated from high school, where he earned the distinction of A-B Honor Roll! He will attend Navarro College in the fall, where he will complete his general studies degree before deciding which career path to pursue.

Luis loves school, but he was involved in a lot of extra-curricular activities too. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, sticking with it from the time he joined as a Cub Scout until he was 18 years old. He says his involvement with the Boy Scouts helped him through rough times and gave him a great opportunity to make new friends.

In school and in Boy Scouts, Luis was known for being very friendly and outgoing. This was evident at his graduation party. He really enjoyed talking with the guests at his party, politely thanking them for the many graduation gifts that he received. (Thank you PCHAS supporters for your generosity and for making Luis’ graduation party a huge success!)

When Luis is not at school or doing a project for Boy Scouts, he says he loves going to church, cooking and playing games. He is also an avid reader, and is a big fan of Stephen King novels. He loves music and is a self-proclaimed “man of many tastes in music.”

When asked who he would miss the most when he leaves for college, Luis said that he would miss a lot of people but would miss his Home Parents, Joyce and Raul Fuentes, the most.

“I really enjoyed being here at PCHAS,” said Luis. “It was a good experience and it really shaped me into the person I am today. I am happy to be called a Presbyterian.”
