PCHAS Launches Foster Care Program in Austin

PCHAS Launches Foster Care Program in AustinPCHAS will open a Foster Care Program in Austin this spring.  The program will meet the critical needs of children who need a loving foster family. When we are operating at full capacity, we will be serving 45 boys and girls each year in the Austin area.

With more than 110 years of experience providing services for children and families in need, including Foster Care Programs in Dallas, Houston, Waxahachie, Wichita Falls and Longview, Texas, PCHAS is uniquely qualified to provide foster homes for children in the greater Austin area. We carefully screen, select, train, supervise and support foster parents.

“There aren’t any easy answers when you have to remove children from their families and place them in a home with strangers. It’s scary for the child and challenging for foster parents. But it can be a profoundly healing relationship if created thoughtfully and everyone involved is surrounded with support. These are the guiding principles behind PCHAS’ Foster Care Program,” said Scott Waller, PCHAS Director of Foster Care.

For more than a decade, PCHAS has operated group homes in Austin for boys and girls who are unable to live with their biological parents.  As we launch our Foster Care Program in Austin, we will repurpose our group homes in support of this new service.

Through the years, many individuals and congregations have faithfully served and supported our ministry, a tradition of support we deeply cherish.  As we open our new Foster Care Program in Austin, we hope this volunteerism and support will continue to grow.
