More than 100 People Attend PCHAS Back-to-School Barbeque in San Antonio

More than 100 People Attend PCHAS Back-to-School BBQ in San AntonioA good time was had by all at the Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services Back to School Barbeque on the San Antonio campus in September. Signe Fredrickson, PCHAS’ Development Officer in San Antonio, coordinated the event and asked all of the PCHAS Ambassadors in San Antonio and the surrounding areas to invite their churches, to help prepare food and donate school supplies.

More than 100 people, including 40 volunteers, gave the children in PCHAS’ care a festive send-off. Youth Groups from St. Andrews and Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church served as hosts, and the St. Andrews Praise Band provided music. Guests had the opportunity to meet the Home Parents and the children who live at the two homes on the campus.

The San Antonio Ambassadors who were instrumental to the success of the barbeque are Madge Bayston Storm, Dorothy Closner, Ruth Davenport, Fran Hargrove, Annis Fisher, Teri Heinzmann, Carolyn Livesay, Charmaine Posson, Nancy Puckett, Kathy Simmons, Katherine Brown, Mary Middleton, Marlene Patton, Betzy Zachery, Valerie Carter-Cole Valerie’s husband Don. Special events like this provide opportunities for lots of volunteers to gather together and help the children and families in PCHAS’ care.

Thank you to the 101 volunteers who provided 425 hours of service to PCHAS all over Texas in September!
