Why I Volunteer: Linda Denbow

Why I Volunteer: Linda DenbowAs a Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services volunteer, Linda Denbow, who was once a school counselor, advises single parents and shares techniques that will help them address their children’s behavioral issues at home. She donates her time to the Child Enrichment Program classes—designed for five-year-olds—at Westminster Presbyterian Church School in Corsicana, Texas. Each child compiles a notebook of character traits he or she has studied throughout the year, which ultimately helps the children and their families by supplementing the work of Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services’ Child and Family Specialists. “Including character education in the Child Enrichment Program curriculum is important,” Linda says. “We can’t assume children are learning and understanding concepts of positive character traits at home.”
