Bill Abbott

It was nearly three years ago when Bill Abbott first became familiar with Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services’ programs. When a staff member informed his church of the need for adult mentors for the children in our care, he responded by signing himself up as a volunteer in our Group Homes, offering young people advice and assistance as they prepare for job interviews. Bill especially enjoys seeing the children he mentors grow, mature, and become more confident—and he hopes to establish a stronger connection between his church, local communities, and our ministry. As for the children, “A lot of them are real survivors who will make it in spite of the lot they were given in life,” Bill says. “Some will always need just a little more help than other children, but they are great kids—and they deserve whatever help we can give them.”
